Thanks a lot!
I use VMware player to use Windows XP on my Windows 10 laptop. There are a few things I use that I need XP for. There is a common folder that can be used to transfer files between the two systems. XP does not connect to the internet when I use it this way.
Very cool. I still have my original. Love the LED , still works. Good video, thank you
The only reason these browsers are more or less useless is because the security certificates are outdated. On the Commodore Amiga you can even still use outdated browsers because someone maintains the SSL certificates in a separate program which are released every few months.
You said you "repaired" this system. How in the world are you okay with these speeds? Whatever HDD is in there is clearly failing. Critically.
It does seem to be running slow on the Windows 10 boot for a few minutes during startup. I’ll take a look at it and remove some of the tasks to improve the startup. An SSD may help too - the hard drive is a new Western Digital.
@@pierangler Even on extremely old hardware it should still be faster than that. Try the SSD and let us know what happens.
@@FortyOneYT It is starting up very quickly now. I edited the processes that were in start up - there were quite a few that were unnecessary to be there for start up. I appreciate all of the ideas that some of you have suggested.
@@pierangler Excellent! I’m very happy!
If you want to have it load way faster during startup pick the windows xp boot manager instead of the win 10 one. You can use EasyBCD for such.
The metro boot screen is cancer.

This is neat! Do you think it would be worth it to migrate your data from the hard drive to an SSD? It feels a little slow. Definitely not the worst performance I've seen from a hard drive, though!
The SSD may speed up the computer. It does seem a bit slow - especially on starting up.
@@pierangler isnt there a way to turn your windows 10 pc menu into the old xp menu without having to change the windows.i know there is a way, i saw someone do it years ago using some kind of program, but i forgot what it was called.
I have not tried this, but did find a software called “Classic Shell” that allows customization of the start menu to resemble XP. It can be used on Windows 7, 8, and 10. I see on their website that development ended in 2017. Here’s a link to the website: www.classicshell.net/ Some volunteers on GitHub are doing continued work on it here: github.com/Open-Shell/Open-Shell-Menu I’ll have to try this sometime.
@@pierangler yes thats it! classic shell thats what you can use to change the menu to windows xp or windows 7, i prefer that menu, i hate the windows 10 and 11 menus, thankyou!
I may try Classic Shell and see how it works - maybe an upcoming video 😊
An MBR drive and CSM required.
I currently Tri-boot windows 11 windows 10 windows 7 it all works great.
Another way is to install all the windows versions you like to different partitions or drives, then install linux and let it create a configurable grub bootloader for all detectable operating systems. This way if any windows fail, you can always use linux to access the data :)
Only problem with that particular setup is that Win10 has a few updates that won't install unless Win10 handles all the boot management. I had to deal with that by using a hard drive rack to swap physical drives out, where one has all the Windowses (heh) handled by Win10, and the other has Linux.
@@The_DreadStorm I'm not really following? How does Win10 even know there is grub, why does it care, which updates, how do I reproduce this error and if reproducible will raise it as a bug against grub?
@@fanlessfurmark Not a clue. I haven't dissected it yet. But I've read in several "reputable" sources that there are a few updates that won't install on a multiboot system unless Windows 10 itself is handling the boot selection. Which is stupid on their part since it just reinforces the need to switch to a less restrictive OS. There's one that won't install unless the Win10 Recovery partition is a specific size. Go figure. (And I typically install my Win10 without all those half dozen partitions and force it into a single one!)
@@The_DreadStorm To fix small recovery partition bug, install win10, boot once, reboot into linux, resize recpart by 250mb more, boot into windows, no problem
@@fanlessfurmark kb5034441 isn't the only update that fiddles with the bootloader. Microsoft has blown the boot partition with updates multiple times its really annoying.
My uncle Mort used one and we used a consultant who also used one.
Great Video 👍
Im doing a similar project....did you have the bluetooth module and led lights connected together to inly use one plug? What piece did you buy to do that?
Yes, I had one power cord into the console. The power cord had 3 outlets on the end. I only used 2 of them - one for the Bluetooth/ Amplifier and one for the LED vacuum tube light.
Am I the only one who is watching this masterpiece in 2024 (16 years after the release of this video)!
This is a great find! I've got a collection of early 70's Era calculators. And one of these in such great shape is hard to find! You have a genuine "Keeper" there.
How about mypal or firefox ??
I just finished doing your last directions and I finally got my cute 1997 Holiday Serenade Cardinal Christmas ornament working. I brought it at a goodwill for $2.99, I looked it up online, it goes from $8- $36. Once again Thank you much .
Glad you were able to power it up and enjoy it! 😊
I have the exact same one, It seems to spin slow and it only works all the way at the "slow" setting, if u try to turn it up it just dies. Any idea how to fix this?
I have not had that problem with my player. Possibly something wrong with the lever that adjusts the speed - may need adjustment.

Talk about a blast form the past, I remember as a child spending all those nights playing Battlezone non-stop. I'm wanting to find a way to get this game and relive my childhood. I know this video is a couple years old and not sure if you're going to respond, but where and how did you get it to run on Windows 10 if I may ask?
I really like the games in the Microsoft Arcade collection. I still have the old floppy disk. I was able to play it on Windows 7 and Windows 10 by use of a virtual machine of the Windows 3.11 operating system. I edited my notes on this video to clarify this. My The 386 Experience website has the Microsoft Arcade program available for download and a Virtual Machine of Windows 3.11 for download also. www.386experience.com
